Freda was born in Denver on Nov. 23, 1943, the daughter of the late Fred Franklin and Annabelle M. (Earl) Barnett. She graduated from Las Animas High School and from Colorado State University with a Bachelor in Music. She was the wife of Paul Patterson. They were married on May 4, 1997. She worked as a Cake Decorator at Wal-Mart in La Junta. She is survived by her husband and a daughter Carol Coates and her significant other Gerald Miller of Rocky Ford; brother, Frank Barnett of La Junta; 2 brother-in-laws: Jim Patterson and his wife Karleen of Manzanola and Willie and his wife Wendy of La Junta; and 9 grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held in the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd, with Rev. John Dell officiating. At the family’s request there will be no visitation as cremation has been effected. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Downs Syndrome Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
